We Picked a Location and Date!

the location was a no-brainer. when we returned to oahu from the big island, we checked out a few potential sites. our requirements were that the location:

1. have an outdoor oceanfront wedding ceremony area
2. have an indoor reception area
3. be located relatively proximate to the honolulu/waikiki vicinity

there was only one place that met all our requirements: the kahala (formerly mandarin oriental). now stacy had been there back in the day and didnt remember it as being particularly nice ("it had old carpet"). but we all know what a terrible memory she has and as soon as we pulled into the driveway, we were both very pleasantly surprised. they have apparently made some major renovations, but retained its old school class and elegance. and contrary to what stacy thought, the carpet is very nice.

choosing a date was the hard part. our desire was to have it on labor day weekend, but of course, thats not going to happen this late in the game. so it came down to either the weekend before, or october. here were our pros and cons:

August 25
pros: still summer break (for guests with children and our teacher friends).
cons: peak travel season (most expensive), hottest time of the year.

October
pros: off travel season (cheapest time of the year), moderate temperature
cons: difficult for guests with children

after much consideration, we decided to go with the August 25 date!

anyways, here are the 'save the date' cards i created using some of the pictures from our trip. if you've found this website, it probably means you've already received it!
